Every L2 claims to be the fastest and cheapest. But benchmarks and marketing pages don't tell you what it's like to actually live on a chain — where the liquidity is, which bridges you trust, and what breaks when the network gets busy.
What matters to me in practice:
- **Fees during congestion**, not fees on a quiet Tuesday
- **Bridge risk** — how funds actually move in and out, and how long withdrawals take
- **Real liquidity** for the assets I use, not TVL charts inflated by incentives
- **Wallet and tooling support** — does everything I use just work?
- **How the sequencer is run**, and what happens if it goes down
Incentive programmes distort all of this. A chain can look busy for three months and empty out the week rewards end.
**Questions:**
- Which L2 do you use most, and what made it stick?
- Have you moved off one? What pushed you away?
- Which bridge do you trust, and why that one?
- For builders: where does deployment and debugging actually feel best?
Concrete experience is more useful here than a comparison table.
